
Augustin-Jean Fresnel

Wave optics and the zones used in RF path clearance.
A French engineer and physicist, Fresnel established the wave theory of light in the 1810s and the zone construction that bears his name — the same geometry that determines clearance for radio paths.
The Fresnel-zone tool here uses his zones to size the clearance a radio link needs over an obstacle.
