Stylized blueprint portrait of Émile Clapeyron

Émile Clapeyron

1799 – 1864

Gave the ideal-gas law its combined form.

A French engineer who gave the ideal-gas law its combined form (PV = nRT) in 1834 and did foundational work in thermodynamics, reviving Carnot's ignored ideas and shaping the field Kelvin and Clausius completed.

The ideal-gas and gas-density tools here use the equation in the form Clapeyron assembled.
