George Campbell
1870 – 1954
Bell engineer who founded image-parameter network and filter design.
An American engineer at AT&T, Campbell founded the mathematical theory of the electric filter and the loaded transmission line in the early 20th century, work that made long-distance telephony possible.
The filter, attenuator, and matched-network tools here descend from Campbell's image-parameter methods — the arithmetic of building circuits that stay matched from both ends.
