Henry Darcy
1803 – 1858
Quantified pipe friction and flow through porous media.
A French engineer who built Dijon's water supply, Darcy quantified pipe friction and flow through porous media in the 1850s. The Darcy–Weisbach equation and Darcy's law both carry his name.
The pipe-pressure-drop tools here are, quite literally, Darcy calculators. His public waterworks still run.
