Where this math comes from
Cycles needed a unit: 'cycles per second' served until the CGPM adopted the hertz in 1960, honoring Heinrich Hertz, who had measured the period of electromagnetic oscillations seven decades earlier with nothing but sparks and geometry.
The 2π bridge between engineers' hertz and physicists' radians is Euler's, like most bridges in the subject.
